PDC UK Open 2011 Day One Tips

Well, we're back to regularly scheduled PDC tournaments and the return of the UK Open, this year known as the Speedy Hire UK Open. You will hear the pharse "the FA Cup of darts" more times than "under stacker" or "top tungsten" over the next few days. That being said, it is a great tournament and there will be some giant killings along the way.

We finished the Premier League with a winning night and we'll be looking to continue that into the UK Open. Now, with the strange open draw format, we will only be able to send tips out for the first round of matches every day. So, tonight's tips are going to be for the first round of the UK Open only. Then we'll have the third round tips on Friday and so on up until the final day's play. It's awkward, but hey, we've been donig this for a while now, so I'm sure you're used to it.

For this tournament, we'll be mostly usingBetfair's prices, as they tend to have the best prices when it comes to darts betting. But not only that, Betfair will give you a free bet of £25 when you sign up. So, get yourself along, bet £25 and if it loses, you'll get your £25 back. Happy days!

Now, we have a lot of matches tonight, so I wouldn't be doing my usual write-ups for each match. i know you must be gutted about that, as my prose tends to be witty and entertaining, but it will be coming back when there's not 64 matches to sift through!

So, without further ado, here are the first tips for the UK Open.

Steve Beaton to beat Scott Rand: 8/11 @ Betfair

Rand is in decent form on the floor, but Beaton's experience should prevail here.

Recommend: 2 units.

Mark Hylton to beat Brian Woods: 8/11 @ Betfair

Woods has failed to set the PDC alight since he got through Q School, while Hylton is in a decent vein of form.

Recommend: 2 units.

Shaun Griffiths to be John MaGowan: 4/6 @ Boylesports.

The youngster, Griffiths, is putting in some good performances on the PDC Youth Tour and he'll be looking to build on the early promise against the veteran MaGowan.

Recommend: 1.5 units.

Aaron Monk to beat Steve Hine: 4/5 @ Betfair

Another case where youth should overcome experience. Monk will want to build on his inaugural World U-21 Championship and what better place to do it than the UK Open? His high scoring will help in this short format.

Recommend: 2 units.

Justin Pipe to beat Gary Welding: 8/13 @ Stan James.

Underachiever Justin Pipe will want to get some form back and he should have enougfh to grind down Welding. Pipe is a quality player on his day and the UK Open is the perfect format for him.

Recommend: 4 units.

Chris Aubrey to beat Shane O'Connor: 10/11 @ Boylesports.

A bit of form for Aubrey in the Youth Tour should see him through here.

Recommend: 1 unit.

Paul Whitworth to beat Richard North: 4/7 @ Stan James.

A bit of experience Whitworth should take him past the inexperienced North.

Recommend: 2 units.

Magnus Caris to beat Kevin McDine: 6/5 @ Stan James

The ever-green Caris is in decent form in the floor tournaments and now that he's back full-time in the PDC, he's only going to be getting stronger as the weeks go on. McDine has been in a bit of a slump as of late and I don't see how he's favourite.

Recommend: 2 units.

Andy Boulton to beat Jimmy Mann: 4/5 @ Stan James.

X-Factor hits the UK Open! The extremely experienced Boulton will want to show off in front of the cameras and this is his time to shine against Mann.

Recommend: 2 units.

And that's it for the first round of the UK Open. Remember to check back for the tips for the third roud of the UK Open and if you fancy a bet on the outright market, you'll find all the best prices at Betfair, as well as a free £25 bet.

Enjoy the return to regular PDC tournaments and happy betting!
