PDC 2011 Premier League Darts – Week Ten – Sheffield

The Premier League Darts bandwagon rolls into Yorkshire this week and, more specifically, Sheffield. A big night of darts is in store, with Simon Whitlock facing James Wade, Gary Anderson taking on Mark Webster, Phil Taylor squaring off with Terry Jenkins and then Raymond van Barneveld and Adrian Lewis round off proceedings.

Last week's results took us to 12-17 and -13.84 units.

888.com are turning their attention to darts and they're now offering a free £20 bet to new accounts, which is one of the best offers out there. They're new to sponsoring the PDC action and their sponsorship of the Premier League Darts is a great coup not just for them, but for the PDC. 888.com are a great bookie and I would urge you to head on over there and take advantage of their great promotions.

Let's get right down to the action for Sheffield's night of Premier League Darts action.

Simon Whitlock versus James Wade.

A huge win over Raymond van Barneveld last week for Simon Whitlock, but an even bigger win for James Wade over Adrian Lewis.

Wade needed that 8-3 win to keep alive his slim hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages. Whitlock's 8-5 win over Raymond van Barneveld moved the Aussie up into this and showed how his game has improved in the last few weeks of Premier League action.

Wade's result somewhat flattered him, as Lewis' doubling was terrible and is ultimately what cost him several legs. Wade's average of 92.17 in that match was aroud his Premier League average. To be blunt about it, he won't stand a chance against Whitlock is The Wizard pulls out a performance even just close to his Aberdeen romp. Whitlock averaged 107.93 and that's with missing quite a few doubles. He beat Barney who averaged 104.54, so Wade's average of around 92 must improve.

The price of Whitlock is a bit puzzing, as I thought he showed be quite a bit shorter. Whitlock's solid form and Wade's shocking form points to only one winner. I also like the look of the 180s line, as both men like their maximums and a line of 6.5 is very generous. The fact Whitlock hit 8 on his own last week, while wade put in 3 shows what this match is capable of producing.

Gary Anderson versus Mark Webster.

A huge win for Gary Anderson last week over Terry Jenkins. He showed off for the partizan crowd, averaging around 101 and hitting 38% of his doubles. He didn't give Jenkins much of a chance.

In stark contrast to this is Mark Webster's recent performances. Webster got thumped 8-1 by Phil Taylor and averaged 92.34, hitting 1 doubles out of just 6 attempts. It wasn't good enough to even get near Taylor and it won't be good enguh to get near Anderson.

The outright markets are a bit tight for any value, but the total legs market is where the value might lie. If Webster reproduces the form as of late, he'll be in his bed before 9pm and the total legs line of 12.5 is interesting.

Phil Taylor versus Terry Jenkins.

The Phil Taylor procession continues. He beat Mark Webster 8-1 with an average of 107.07, took out over half his attempts at doubles and it doesn't look like stopping against Terry Jenkins. Jenkins lost 8-3 to Gary Anderson last week, averaged 86.34 and took out 3 of his 6 attempts at doubles. So, while there's no doubt Jenkins' doubling is as solid as ever, the fact he's not getting near the chance at winning a leg speaks volumes.

Taylor will no doubt take this with ease, but the outright value is not there. However, Taylor only put in 3 maximums last week in his 8-1, Jenkins managed 1 last week, so this doesn't scream like a 180-fest. The line looks a bit big and that's where we'll head.

Raymond van Barneveld versus Adrian Lewis.

A huge match to end the night, with fourth in the Premier League taking on fifth. Raymond van Barneveld takes on the world champion, Adrian Lewis. Both men are coming off the back of defeats in Aberdeen. Barney losing 8-5 to Simon Whitlock in an amazing encounter that he probably can't believe he lost. Adrian Lewis was smiply undone on his doubling. Barney averaged 104.54 and Lewis averaged 93.11. The stats sum up the performances of both men. Lewis didn't deserve to win, while Barney was unlucky to bump into Simon Whitlock in inspired form.

The bookies can't split them, but the stats don't like. Barney looks good value here to take on Lewis, whose double trouble seems to be creeping back. The price is exceptional value and that will be our last bet of the night.

And that's it for the Premier League Darts from Sheffield. It's looking like a cracking card and I expect we'll see a couple of fantastic matches, at the very least.

Enjoy the darts and happy betting!
