PDC 2011 Premier League Darts – Week Eight – Cardiff

A strange week last week, with some players putting in some great performances and the Brighton crowd got a real treat.

After last week's debacle, we're now 8-15 and -17.75 units. Still, we're only halfway through the season and I'm sure we'll get back on track this week.

888.com are turning their attention to darts and they're now offering a free £20 bet to new accounts, which is one of the best offers out there. They're new to sponsoring the PDC action and their sponsorship of the Premier League Darts is a great coup not just for them, but for the PDC. 888.com are a great bookie and I would urge you to head on over there and take advantage of their great promotions.

And if you're wanting another free bet, head on over to Betfair, where you can get a free bet worth £25 if you sign up over there. Betfair are one of my favourite betting sites and with the ability to back and lay your selections, there's a lot of ways you can win money at Betfair.

So, with fingers crossed we don't get the same scenes as last week, let's get onto the Premier League darts tips for the Cardiff leg.

Gary Anderson versus James Wade.

James Wade's Premier League season goes from bad to worse, while Gary Anderson's is starting to stutter somewhat. Both men were beaten last week, Wade losing 8-1 to Phil Taylor and Anderson losing 8-5 to Raymond van Barneveld.

That being said, Wade's average looked a bit healthier than previous weeks, althuogh it might be down to having only fuor darts at doubles. Anderson's average was a couple of points lower, but he did take his chances. Both men just ran into opponents in good form, unfortunately.

Still, this is a big chance for both men to restart their season and being first on, they'll want to start with a bang. I just can't look past Anderson, as Wade's darts have been terrible, for the most part this season and it's a tough game for him to start getting ti right, as we know Anderson will put in some heavy scoring.

Simon Whitlock versus Terry Jenkins.

Are these two the two resurgent players in the Premier League? Both Simon Whitlock and Terry Jenkins have been playing some solid darts as of late. Whitlock averaged 100.45 in his 8-2 thrashing of Mark Webster. Jenkins got a draw against the world champion, Adrian Lewis, with an average of 92.69. The fact is, Jenkins has been dogged as of late, but the disparity in the averages tells a story about how well Whitlock has been playing lately.

The gap in averages from last week is too big and Whitlock's finishing looks like it's clicking again. When he's firing like that, he's hard to stop and the price looks quite tasty.

Phil Taylor versus Raymond van Barneveld.

You know, at the start of the season, I wouldn't have been excited about this, but after the form both men have been in recently, Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld should put on a darting masterclass tonight.

it's a repeat of the RTL7 final, which Taylor won with a 113 average. He beat Barney 8-3 in their first Premier League meeting and all signs are pointing to a win for The Power. However, Barney's average of 101.44 last week against Gary Anderson might just give him some hope. But Taylor averaged 105.70 in beating James Wade.

The fact is, Taylor should win, but there's no great price to be had. Like nearly all of Taylor's matches, just enjoy two players that are playing some great darts.

Recommend: No bet.

Adrian Lewis versus Mark Webster.

A Prermier League homecoming for Mark Webster and boy does he need a bit of a boost from the crowd. He's been in shocking form over the past couple of weeks and his average last week of 87.29 against Simon Whitlock highlights his troubles. Adrian Lewis drew with Terry Jenkins, averaging 93.44, which is a bit below his tournament average. He was hoping to capitalise on his week six win, but just choked a bit at the important times.

That being said, he looks in better form than Webster and he's shown a partisan crowd doesn't bother him, after his exploits in Scotland. Lewis is a tempting price and we have to go with him.
