PDC 2011 World Championship Day Seven Tips

Well, Wednesday night's action will conclude the first week of play from the PDC World Championships and we've still got two night to go in the first round!

Again, I'll be caught up with the figures at the end of the first round, as the weather is still playing havoc with my schedule. But normal service will be resumed, I promise, after the Christmas break. Now, a couple of decent matches for Wednesday night, so without further ado, let's get down to business.

Here are all the free bets on offer during the PDC World Championships

Colin Osborne vs Chris Thompson.

It was good to see Colin Osborne in a bit of form at the Grand Slam of Darts, as he's entertaining to watch when he's playing well. When he's playing bad, however, he's rotten. But Chris Thompson isn't a player who ought to cause him too much trouble. The trouble is when Osborne isn't pushed, his concentration can go and that's dangerous. However, he should come through, sadly the price is short at 2/7 and the handicap doesn't look much better, either.

Let's start the night quietly!

Recommend: No bet.

Devon Petersen vs Norman Madhoo - (Prelim match).

Two unknown quantities playing best to four. Stay away from this.

Recommend: No bet.

Barrie Bates vs Kevin McDine.

This is a very interesting match as far as a betting proposition goes. Barrie Bates has done well at the Ally Pally in the past, while McDine hasn't been setting the world alight, but is capable of some good darts. Bates had a great run with Mark Webster in the World Cup at the start of the month and will be looking to carry that form forward. However, McDine will be wanting to make an impression after being off the TV for so long.

It should be close and the bookies have it down as a tight affair, with very little splitting them. However, I think Bates's run in front of the cameras recently should put him at an advantage and we have to make the most of that.

Barrie Bates to beat Kevin McDine 10/11 @ Stan James.

Recommend: 1.5 units.

Raymond van Barneveld vs Steve Hine.

Yeah, let's just say Barney at 75% should still win this. Hine hasn't impressed too much when he's had the chance on TV and although Barney isn't at his best, he should get through this comfortably.

Recommend: No bet.

Jamie Caven vs Petersen/Madhoo.

No prices for this, of course. I can't see either qualifier troubling Caven. Maybe if they both played him, I don't know. Still, just save your cash for the last set of first round matches on Thursday night.

Recommend: No bet.

Well, just the one bet, but there should be some decent darts on display with Caven, Barney and Osborne strutting their stuff.

So, back on Thursday for the last set of first round matches. Enjoy Wednesday night's darts and happy betting!
