PDC 2011 World Championships Day Four Tips

An unfortunate night last night, as we went 1-1, to put us 1-5 thanks to Alex Roy capitulating after a strong start against Mark Dudbridge. We're still standing at -5 units for the tournament, but it's still early days and there's a lot of action left in this tournament.

A big night of action to come, with a couple of interesting match ups.

Here are all the free bets on offer during the PDC World Championships

So, the fourth day begins and we'll get our darts tips on!

Wayne Jones vs Kirk Shepherd.

Kirk Shepherd is a late replacement for Rob Modra, while Wayne Jones is in some decent form as of late. He's obviously rock solid on the floor and just wants to translate that form onto the TV. Shepherd hasn't been a real contender since his World Championship Final and I can't see things changing against Jones, who looked solid at the Grand Slam of Darts and will be wanting to show everyone he's not just a floor tournament maestro.

But Jones is at roughly 1/4, which is just no good at all. However, I think Jones might have far too much in his locker and although I can see Shepherd taking a set, that's about all he should get and Victor Chandler's -1.5 is generous.

Wayne Jones -1.5 sets vs Kirk Shepherd 4/7 @ Victor Chandler.

Recommend: 3.5 units

Per Laursen vs Boris Krcmar (Prelim match).

Per Laursen has been around the block and then some. Boris Krcmar, from what I can see, is that he's most of a soft tip darts specialist. Laursen is an old hand on the stage and should have far too much for the Bosnian. While it's still only a race to 4, I can't see past the experienced Laursen and it's the first bet I want to have on the prelim matches, as I think the bookies are either underestimating Laursen, or overestimating Krcmar.

Per Laursen to beat Boris Krcmar 8/11 @ Paddy Power.

Recommend: 2 units

Robert Thornton vs Nigel Heydon.

I've seen a lot of people slating Robert Thornton lately, but I personally think he's playing some good darts at the moment and a good run here is important for him. He's playing Nigel Heydon, who is making his World Championships debut. While Heydon appears to be quite handy, I think Thornton will be far too strong and I'd recommend a watching brief for this.

Thornton is short enough at around 2/5, so we can easily avoid him and just watch, because if he plays to a good standard, the draw might just open up for him. If he doesn't, no harm done and we can either oppose him in the next round, or depending on how well Heydon beats him...well, you get the point. I can't see past a Thornton win, however, so I'll just be happy to sit this out and watch.

Recommend: No bet.

Wes Newton vs Darin Young.

Wes Newton is such a frustrating player. At times you can see why people tipped him for big things, but a lot of the time you can see why he never fulfilled his potential. He's so inconsistent that it's not funny. he's playing Big Daddy Darin young, who will push Newton. Young can score heavily at times and could have enough in his locker to push Newton.

Young had a good spell when the PDC came to America and he's had a good year in the States. The form might not be up to much compared to the PDC Pro Tour, but he's donig well and that's the main thing.

Newton has had a relatively successful year, with a couple of Players Championship wins back-to-back in November on the back of a Grand Slam of Darts qualifier win. So Newton is coming into the tournament in decent form and that should lead this to be a close match.

While I'm not a big fan of the outright markets for this match, I like the look of Darin Young to score the most 180s in the match at around 2/1.

Darin Young to score the most 180s against Wes Newton 2/1 @ Blue Square.

Recommend: 1 unit @ 2/1

John Part vs Laursen/Krcmar.

Obviously there are no prices available for this match, but if you fancy a dabble, I wouldn't put you of backing either qualifier to beat John Part. Part isn't exactly in scintilating form and I can see him going through the motions here should the form not reemerge. If the price is right, back the qualifier! But as it stands, I can't reommend anything, as I obviously dno't know the prices.

Recommend: No bet.

Well, that's all for tonight. I think we've got some very solid bets here and I'm looking forward to an interesting night of action. We've not got the star names involved, but we've got some cracking mathes scheduled.

Enjoy the matches and happy betting!
