Grand Slam of Darts 2010 Day Five Tips

Well, a great start to last night’s darts, but a terrible end. I won’t lie; I was extremely disappointed, especially in Gary Anderson. There was a fleeting moment when I thought the fix was in for the 5-1 for Webster and I think Wayne Jones thought the same, too. A face like thunder doesn’t do it justice. Still, we’re 13-11 for the tournament and we have a profit of –

So, we’re still in a nice bit of profit for the week and going into day five of the Grand Slam of Darts, I’m confident of hitting double figures!

I want to mention the bookmakers that will give you some free money for depositing there. Is there anything better than free money? Well, more free money. So, use my tips along with these free sign-up offers and we'll keep the great run going!

First off, Betfair. If you've not got an account with Betfair, why not? More often than not, they have the best prices and, thanks to the ability to back or lay a selection, you can bet in-play with ease and also lay your bet back should you think the tide is about to turn for your player. It's where serious bettors bet and if you're serious about darts betting, you NEED an account here. Plus you get a free bet up to £25, which is always nice.

I want to introduce our friends at Paddy Power They’re big supporters of darts and they’ll give you a £10 bet when you sign up through Darts Betting Tips. They have great money-back specials on all sorts of markets and are perhaps the most fun bookmaker out there.

Victor Chandler as a well established name in sports betting and they really get behind the great sport of darts. They'll give you up to a £100 free sports bet, as well as casino chips is you sign up there. There's not a better offer available and I've taken advantage of this for tonight's tips, and I think you should too. Hey, if the tips win, great, but if, for some strange reason, they don't, you've lost nothing!

Boylesports are another great bookmaker for darts. They have a huge variety of markets and they have a nice £20 deposit bonus. You deposit and bet £20, they match it. Simples!

Stan James are big supporters of darts. We find their markets to be amongst the best when it comes to darts betting, which is why we proudly support them. Plus, their £25 match bet is a fantastic offer, probably the best out there at the moment. So, why not sign up, deposit and have a nibble on our first tip of the night and Stan James will match it:

Seriously, if you don’t have accounts at any of these bookmakers, sign up, deposit and use your free bet to have a dabble on tonight’s tips. Now that that’s out of the way and you’ve got your free bets, let’s get the tips going.

Colin Lloyd vs Tricia Wright

Tricia Wright hasn’t performed too badly considering the company she’s kept in the Grand Slam of Darts. She held her own against Darryl Fitton and could have been one leg away from victory if he had just managed to check out. Still, Colin Lloyd looked unstoppable against Raymond van Barneveld and I think the same will continue against Wright.

However, 1/50 or 1/100 about Lloyd is of no use to us.

Recommend: No bet.

Adrian Lewis vs Scott Waites

Waites, like last year, has been a revelation and was unbelievable against Martin Phillips. Lewis has been pretty shocking considering his great run at the World Matchplay and I can’t see him changing that against the exciting Yorkshireman.

Ted Hankey vs Michael van Gerwen:

Hankey defeated Phil Taylor on Monday night and I don’t think he’s going to stop against Michael van Gerwen, who was terrible against Taylor and better against Wes Newton. Hankey should be too strong, as he’ll want to prove his win over Taylor wasn’t a fluke. However, he’s been priced accordingly and the fact is, he doesn’t need to win, so although he’ll want to win, the hunger might not be there.

Recommend: No bet.

Ronnie Baxter vs Arron Monk:

Ronnie Baxter was unlucky against Paul Nicholson, who seems in irresistible form. The same can be said for Arron Monk, although he wasn’t as hot against Steve Beaton, who beat him comprehensively. Baxter knows he needs to win to have a chance of qualifying and I think he’ll do it. Again, 8/15 is no real value over this format, so we’ll leave it there.

Recommend: No bet.

Paul Nicholson vs Steve Beaton:

Both men looked good in their last match and Nicholson still needs a win to guarantee his spot in the next round, as does Steve Beaton, unless Arron Monk wins the previous match. If Monk wins, Nicholson doesn’t need to win, Beaton does and while I’m not a conspiracy theorist, Beaton might just go odds-on. So, for that reason, the hunger might just lie with Beaton and his price is just tempting enough, especially as he can checkout with the best of them given the chance.

Co Stompe vs Martin Phillips:

Well, I love Co Stompe, you love Co Stompe and the crowd loves Co Stompe. However, this week I’ve started to love Martin Phillips and his fantastic scoring. Stompe looked handy against Lewis, but Phillips is averaging almost three figures and Stompe is too inconsistent to cope with this. The fact Phillips is the underdog means we really have to back him to do the business.

Martin Phillips to beat Co Stompe: 11/10 @ Boylesports

Recommend: 2 units @ 11/10

Phil Taylor vs Wes Newton:

Basically, Taylor still looked pretty good against Ted Hankey in defeat, while Wes Newton hasn’t impressed that much, scraping past Michael van Gerwen. Taylor will do the business, but he’s 1/7 to do it and that’s just no value, just in case his glasses don’t work, or some other random excuse.

Recommend: No bet.

Raymond van Barneveld vs Darryl Fitton:

Raymond van Barneveld was pretty bad against Colin Lloyd, with his darts drifting into the 5 bed an awful lot. Fitton looked good in his first match, but his second match against Tricia Wright, he wasn’t too hot. Van Barneveld should take this, but again he’s no value to do so, so just watch this and see if Fitton can pull of a bit of a shock against his former BDO compatriot.

Recommend: No bet.

Well, very few bets tonight, as there are some dead rubbers and a fair few short priced good things that we’re not going to get rich backing. But I think we’ll be back on track tonight and edging closer and closer to the double figure profit that we’re aiming for.

If you’re wanting to back in running, head on over to Betfair. I spend all evening there during the darts, trading my positions and there’s no better way to make an extra bit of money than betting in-play on Betfair.

Enjoy the darts, let’s hope for a winning night and, most importantly, as ever, happy betting!
