PDC World Grand Prix Day Four Tips

Well, day three of the PDC World Grand Prix is in the books and around the halfway stage, we’ve had some great darts, some high scoring and some great finishing. In short, the darts has been great and it’s just nice that it’s back on our TV screens.

Before, I forget, remember the next televised tournament will be the Grand Slam of Darts on ITV4, not Sky Sports. Of course, we’ll continue our free darts betting tips throughout that tournament and into the World Championships in December. Looking forward to the next couple of months I know I am!

I want to mention the bookmakers that will give you some free money for depositing there. Is there anything better than free money? Well, more free money. So, use my tips along with these free sign-up offers and we'll keep the great run going!

First off, Betfair. If you've not got an account with Betfair, why not? More often than not, they have the best prices and, thanks to the ability to back or lay a selection, you can bet in-play with ease and also lay your bet back should you think the tide is about to turn for your player. It's where serious bettors bet and if you're serious about darts betting, you NEED an account here. Plus you get a free bet up to £25, which is always nice.

I want to introduce our friends at Paddy Power They’re big supporters of darts and they’ll give you a £10 bet when you sign up through Darts Betting Tips. They have great money-back specials on all sorts of markets and are perhaps the most fun bookmaker out there.

Victor Chandler as a well established name in sports betting and they really get behind the great sport of darts. They'll give you up to a £100 free sports bet, as well as casino chips is you sign up there. There's not a better offer available and I've taken advantage of this for tonight's tips, and I think you should too. Hey, if the tips win, great, but if, for some strange reason, they don't, you've lost nothing!

Boylesportsare another great bookmaker for darts. They have a huge variety of markets and they have a nice £20 deposit bonus. You deposit and bet £20, they match it. Simples!

StanJames are big supporters of darts. We find their markets to be amongst the best when it comes to darts betting, which is why we proudly support them. Plus, their £25 match bet is a fantastic offer, probably the best out there at the moment. So, why not sign up, deposit and have a nibble on our first tip of the night and Stan James will match it:

Seriously, if you don’t have accounts at any of these bookmakers, sign up, deposit and use your free bet to have a dabble on tonight’s tips. Now that that’s out of the way and you’ve got your free bets, let’s get the tips going.

Raymond van Barneveld Vs Mark Walsh:

Raymond van Barneveld:

1st Round:
Ave: 78.16
180s: 0
Highest checkout: 64
Total legs played: 7

Mark Walsh:

1st Round:
Ave: 92.56
180s: 0
Highest checkout: 101
Total legs played: 8

Mark Walsh is Raymond van Barneveld’s bogey, according to the Dutchman and I can’t say I blame him for thinking that. Walsh holds a 3-2 in the head-to-head stats and he is also coming into the game off a far superior first round performance. Both men had relatively easy passages into the second round, but Walsh averaged 14 points more than Barneveld and also scored the higher checkout of the two.

Basically, the 1/2 on offer for the Dutchman is shocking value from the bookies. While I certainly wouldn’t rule out a Barney win, the stats point to it being a lot closer than the bookies would have you believe. Of course, they’ll have a lot of casual money going on Barney, so they can offer almost any price they want. But Paddy Power are offering the standout price for Mark Walsh and we’re going to have a dabble simply because it’s far too big looking at the stats.

Simon Whitlock Vs Andy Hamilton:

Simon Whitlock:

1st Round:

Andy Hamilton:

1st Round:
Ave: 88.36
180s: 3
Highest checkout: 66
Total legs played: 9

I do love Simon Whitlock. He’s brought something special to the PDC. At the Premier League Darts event I went to, his was smiling, chatting with the fans and had a real aura about him that you don’t get from certain darts players. And one of those darts players is, of course, Andy Hamilton. Hamilton is a PDC stalwart and put in a solid performance to sweep aside Dennis Priestley without too much drama. He put in a nice average, with only his finishing seeming to be a tiny problem. Whitlock, on the other hand, showed what he can do with his darts, taking out the highest possible finish on his way to routing Paul Nicholson.

Looking at the first round, you would think this would be closer than the bookies have it, but I don’t think it will be. Hamilton can score heavily, just as heavily as Whitlock, in fact, but his scoring isn’t as consistent as the Australian, neither is his doubling. Whitlock should win easily enough, but 3/10 doesn’t exactly fill me with joy. That being said, Whitlock’s high finish power should see a decent checkout being scored.

James Wade Vs Colin Osborne:

James Wade:

1st Round:
Ave: 83.00
180s: 2
Highest checkout: 60
Total legs played: 8

Colin Osborne:

1st Round:
Ave: 76.90
180s: 2
Highest checkout: 90
Total legs played: 12

Well, the head-to-head between these two currently sits at 8-5 in favour of James Wade, but that’s a lot closer than you might have thought. Wade came through a relatively easy encounter in the first round against Mick McGowan, while Colin Osborne battled past Co Stompe (which, to be honest, I’m still upset about).

However, although the head-to-head is close, Wade has won the last three encounters, which have all been in the past month. Obsorne’s form has been shocking lately and I can’t see anything changing against the former champion, Wade. With Wade at ¼ the market agrees.

The 180s line is around 5.5-6.5, which is about spot on, as I reckon we should see about 5, although Wade is capable of banging them in in quick succession. However, both men didn’t impress with the checkouts in the first round, so maybe the highest checkout is the way to go. The line is situated nicely at 120.5, so we can go under.

Highest checkout in Wade Vs Osborne match under 120.5: 10/11 @

Wes Newton Vs Barrie Bates:

Wes Newton:

1st Round:
Ave: 88.75
180s: 0
Highest checkout: 85
Total legs played: 7

Barrie Bates:

1st Round:
Ave: 76.05
180s: 0
Highest checkout: 84
Total legs played: 7

Not the most glamorous way to end the night, but a great chance for either man to get to the quarter-finals. For both men, it will be some contrast in form, as they have struggled for form on television in 2010. That being said, if Wes Newton can produce the form he did in the first hand against Colin Lloyd, Bates will struggle to cope.

Around 8/15 for Newton seems fair considering the first round of matches and given their respective form over the past few years. However, both men failed to score a single 180 in 7 legs of darts in the first round. So, the line for total 180s is 4.5, which seems fair.

Total 180s in Newton Vs Bates match under 4.5: 10/11 @

That’s all your bets for tonight and I hope you’re enjoying the darts as much as I am. Remember, if you don’t have an account at Betfair, you really should sign up for one, not only for the free bet, but the ability to bet on sports in running. Darts in-running betting is the most exhilarating thing imaginable, as the prices can go wild with the throw of a dart, one double being missed, or one maximum. It’s brilliant!

So, get yourself over to Betfair, enjoy the darts and, most importantly, happy betting!
