PDC World Grand Prix Day Three Tips

Well, I’m sad to say Co Stompe is out. The Matchstick couldn’t do the business when it came down to it and it’s a sad day at Darts Betting Tips! Still, onwards and upwards as we head into Day 3 of the World Grand Prix in Dublin.

I don’t think last night’s action was exactly the greatest night of darts, but hey, there was drama, there was darts and most importantly there was darts betting. Tonight’s action is the best of five sets, so we’re going to get more bang for our buck and we do have Gary Anderson and Phil Taylor both in action, so we will see some great darts being thrown.

I want to mention the bookmakers that will give you some free money for depositing there. Is there anything better than free money? Well, more free money. So, use my tips along with these free sign-up offers and we'll keep the great run going!

First off, Betfair. If you've not got an account with Betfair, why not? More often than not, they have the best prices and, thanks to the ability to back or lay a selection, you can bet in-play with ease and also lay your bet back should you think the tide is about to turn for your player. It's where serious bettors bet and if you're serious about darts betting, you NEED an account here. Plus you get a free bet up to £25, which is always nice.

I want to introduce our friends at Paddy Power They’re big supporters of darts and they’ll give you a £10 bet when you sign up through Darts Betting Tips. They have great money-back specials on all sorts of markets and are perhaps the most fun bookmaker out there.

Victor Chandler as a well established name in sports betting and they really get behind the great sport of darts. They'll give you up to a £100 free sports bet, as well as casino chips is you sign up there. There's not a better offer available and I've taken advantage of this for tonight's tips, and I think you should too. Hey, if the tips win, great, but if, for some strange reason, they don't, you've lost nothing!

Boylesports are another great bookmaker for darts. They have a huge variety of markets and they have a nice £20 deposit bonus. You deposit and bet £20, they match it. Simples!

StanJames are big supporters of darts. We find their markets to be amongst the best when it comes to darts betting, which is why we proudly support them. Plus, their £25 match bet is a fantastic offer, probably the best out there at the moment. So, why not sign up, deposit and have a nibble on our first tip of the night and Stan James will match it:

Seriously, if you don’t have accounts at any of these bookmakers, sign up, deposit and use your free bet to have a dabble on tonight’s tips. Now that that’s out of the way and you’ve got your free bets, let’s get the tips going.

Wayne Jones Vs Steve Brown:

Wayne Jones:

1st Round:
Ave: 88.47
180s: 0
Highest checkout: 130
Total legs played: 14

Steve Brown:

1st Round:
Ave: 76.06
180s: 2
Highest checkout: 74
Total legs played: 14

This should be, in theory, a walkover for Wayne Jones. After a sluggish starts, Jones looks good against Mervyn King in the first round. On the other hand, Steve Brown didn’t impress against Steve Farmer in the first round. The averages say it all. Brown needs to find another 12 points to give Jones a real game of it and I don’t think he has it in him in this format. If the pressure starts to tell, the doubling will start to go. Jones should have the game to see him off comfortably, probably in 4 sets, although I wouldn’t be surprised to see it 3-0.

At 4/11, we won’t get rich backing Wayne Jones. However, the interesting market is the most 180s. Simply judging by the first round, Brown has the advantage over Jones and the 2/1 on offer is exceedingly tempting, so at that price, we’d be daft not to have a dabble.

Steve Brown to score the most 180s against Wayne Jones: 2/1 @

Adrian Lewis Vs Terry Jenkins:

Adrian Lewis:

1st Round:
Ave: 82.59
180s: 3
Highest checkout: 40
Total legs played: 10

Terry Jenkins:

1st Round:
Ave: 83.46
180s: 2
Highest checkout: 106
Total legs played: 9

This is a big match, with both men needing a win to kickstart their 2010 this late in the year, building up to the big one in December. Jenkins might have got lucky against an “injured” Vincent van der Voort, as he wasn’t that convincing, after van der Voort seemed to have thrown it away after just the second leg of the match. Adrian Lewis was pushed hard by Alan Tabern and got a good win, although, as always, his finishing was suspect.

Lewis has been struggling with his doubling, while Jenkins has just struggled with any kind of consistency. Both men have had lucklustre 2010s, so you can’t bet on either of them with great confidence. Around 4/6 on Lewis isn’t anything special, but it’s about right. That being said, both men love a 180 and we could have a long game, perhaps a five-setter, so there is the potential for a decent amount of maximums.

Total 180s in the Lewis/Jenkins match over 7.5: 4/5 @

Phil Taylor Vs Andy Smith

Phil Taylor:

1st Round:
Ave: 102.48
180s: 2
Highest checkout: 101
Total legs played: 6

Andy Smith:

1st Round:
Ave: 82.46
180s: 4
Highest checkout: 120
Total legs played: 13

It’s good to see Andy Smith back in a bit of form. He’s the kind of character the fans like, he’s capable of throwing some good darts. Sadly, he’s playing Phil Taylor early on in this tournament and The Power isn’t in any kind of mood to do The Pieman any favours. Taylor’s whitewash of Brendan Dolan proved he’s on a mission. That mission might be not to drop a set in this tournament and he might just be capable of that, since he’s done everything else there is in the game.

Smith, to be honest, doesn’t stand a chance and the odds reflect that. He’s 12/1 to beat Taylor, but seeing as Taylor is 1/25, 12/1 really is nowhere near any kind of true value. 50/1? Perhaps. As it stands, Taylor will win and it should be with the minimum of fuss.

There is no value out there. Taylor to win 3-0 is no value, the handicap betting is ridiculous and, as often happens in the early stages, no bet is to be found here. Move along!

Recommend: No bet.

Gary Anderson Vs Kevin Painter:

Gary Anderson:

1st Round:
Ave: 89.29
180s: 6
Highest checkout: 110
Total legs played: 14

Kevin Painter:

1st Round:
Ave: 77.55
180s: 1
Highest checkout: 122
Total legs played: 13

Last match of the night and it could be explosive. Or, if you just look at the first round averages, it might be a cakewalk for Gary Anderson. Kevin Painter flirted with defeat in the first round against Mark Dudbridge and it was only down to Dudbridge averaging down around the same as Painter that The Artist managed to scrape through. Anderson should take this, with his explosive scoring, even if his finishing is suspect.

It’s going to be a good match to watch, with some high scoring and hopefully a nice, high checkout. However, the line is quite high considering it could be a shortish match and both men can struggle with their doubling at times.

Highest checkout in Anderson Vs Painter match under 122.5: 5/6 @

Paddy Power

Recommend: 1.5 units @ 5/6.

That’s all for tonight and I hope you’re enjoy the darts as much as I am. Remember, if you don’t have an account at Betfair, you really should sign up for one, not only for the free bet, but the ability to bet on sports in running. Darts in-running betting is the most exhilarating thing imaginable, as the prices can go wild with the throw of a dart, one double being missed, or one maximum. It’s brilliant!

So, get yourself over to Betfair, enjoy the darts and, most importantly, happy betting!
