Premier League Darts Week 7 (Birmingham) Tips

Well, quite a good week last week, especially if you took my advice on heading to Blue Square. Our Ronnie Baxter bet was a loser, but if you backed him at Blue Square, you got your stake back, because Blue Square refunded all losing bets on any player that led at the break, then lost the game. That's exactly what Ronnie Baxter did to us. So, although we can be annoyed at the result, we didn't lose anything.

So, if you followed my advice, backed Barney draw no bet and went to Blue Square for your Ronnie Baxter bet, you'd be up over 4.5 units, which is a pretty special night. Now, let's see if we can make Thursday's darts tips even better than last week.

Now, before we get to the tips, a lot of bookmakers are giving away some nice free bets and you don’t have to use them just on the darts, although I think we'd all agree it would be better to use them on my free tips, but I digress. Here's the bookies I'd recommend more for darts betting and they'e all big supporters of Darts Betting Tips, so click through, register with them and you'll be showing your support for my free tips.

Stan James are big supporters of darts and we find their markets to be amongst the best when it comes to darts betting, which is why we proudly support them. Plus, their £25 match bet is a fantastic offer, probably the best out there at the moment. So, why not sign up, deposit and have a nibble on our first tip of the night and Stan James will match it:

www.StanJames.com

Blue Square are the other big supporters of darts and there’s a free £10 bet to new accounts that make a deposit. So, again, sign up, have a bet on our second tip of the night and you’re quids in! And remember, if you back a player with Blue Square, if he's leading at the break and loses, you'll get your stake back. It's an important bonus for us bettors and it paid dividends last week, so remember it! It's further proof Blue Square are one of the market leaders for darts betting.

And Betfair will do the same. They’ll match your first bet up to £25. Get yourself signed up there, too and you can make tonight’s bets free. They're great for in-running betting, so if you miss the start of the match, you can still get stuck into the betting.

Seriously, if you don’t have accounts at any of these bookmakers, sign up, deposit and use your free bet to have a dabble on tonight’s tips. Now that that’s out of the way and you’ve got your free bets, let’s get the tips going.

Mervyn King Vs Simon Whitlock:

The King against The Wizard. It's like some form of Arthurian legend come to the oche. Well, let's keep this simple: King has been playing exceptionally nearly every single week, Whitlock hasn't. King is sitting second in the league, Whitlock is fifth.

Let's look at last week. Mervyn King averaged 92.99, which isn't great by his standards. But he did managed two big checkouts on his way to a draw with Raymond van Barnveld, meaning he still only has one defeat in the Premier League. Whitlock averaged 91.13 against James Wade last week and that's roughtly what he's averaging every week, which really isn't good enough from Simon Whitlock and it won't be good enough against Mervyn King. Whitlock has the ability to make some big shots, but he's been strugling in the Premier League and facing one of the form players isn't going to help his confidence. Yes, Mervyn King blew 6-3 lead and a 7-5 lead against van Barneveld, but Whitlock isn't Barney.

King will be too good for Whitlock and the prices are looking very good considering what I would have priced the match at. I think Blue Square have got the price wrong and we're going to take advantage of that.

Mervyn King to beat Simon Whitlock: 4/5 @

Recommend: 5 units @ 4/5.

Note: I don't recommend 5 unit bets usually, only when we think the value is exceptional and I think the price is totally wrong and we have to exploit these chances when we can, as bookmakers tend to make things hard for us.

James Wade Vs Terry Jenkins:

The real James Wade has started to appear in the Premier League and he's also started to appear in the floor tournaments. It would appear James Wade has decided to get his finger out and start playing the darts he's capable of. He's going deep into the floor tournaments and his performance against Simon Whitlock in Brighton last week was impressive, with a 98 average and we all know he's capable of better. Terry Jenkins is doing what he does best and is grinding out solid performances, even if he did get thrashed by Phil Taylor last week. Terry Jenkins averaged around 98 and took out 3 big outs to take 3 legs from Phil Taylor (122, 118 and 116). Considering James Wade's finishing hasn't been the greatest this year, it might be a close match.

James Wade is a bit short for this match, but Jenkins offers no real value and the draw doesn't interest me, as I think James Wade will win, but he might give us some palpatations, so the short prices on offer aren't worth it. We'll use this match as a watching brief and see if James Wade is back. If he is, great, if not, we know we can still oppose him. As for the other markets, they're priced about right and there's no real value to be had, sadly.

Recommend: No bet.

Raymond van Barneveld Vs Ronnie Baxter:

Baxter has been something of a bogey for Barney over the past few years. He might not have a sparkling record against the Dutchman, but he tends to push him to the limit. Baxter has surprised most people in this year's Premier League, but I think he's bumping into Barney at the wrong time. Barney's performance in the last two weeks have shown he's getting back to his best. He is happy with his darts, he's happier with his game and this game could be a hammering. Barney's average against Mervyn King was nothing special, just over 93, but the fight he showed to come back against Mervyn King showed another side to his game that has been missing over the past year or two. His hunger might be coming back at the right time. Ronnie Baxter averaged 100.89 against Adrian Lewis, but the fact he lost to Adrian Lewis sums it up. He should have won the match and he didn't. It could be a pivotal result for The Rocket.

Barney should be back to his best and his price looks nice to me.

Recommend: 3.5 units @ 4/5.

Phil Taylor Vs Adrian Lewis:

You know, if you had asked me a few weeks ago how I would price this match up, I would have made Lewis a lot shorter than he currently is. He was playing some amazing darts and was getting unlucky at the last. However, his performance against Simon Whitlock with his 15% checkout scoring summed Adrian Lewis up. He's a bottler at the best of times and Phil Taylor brings out the worst in him. This should be another standard Phil Taylor route. We won't get rich backing Phil Taylor at 1/3 and we don't plan on backing him at that price, as that's not the way we do things, is it? However, the handicap is set at 3.5 and I honestly don't think Jackpot will take 5 legs off The Power. So, with that in mind, let's have a bet on a Phil Taylor match for two weeks in a row. Shocking? Yes, definitely.

Recommend: 2 units @ Evens.
